The Project

Whistle Binkies Website & Beer Bible

Whistle Binkies Pubs

Whistle Binkies Pubs badly needed a refreshed look for their very dated web presence. They also wanted an easier way for their customers to pick a beer to try out of their 400+ varieties.

With that in mind, I was in charge of modernizing the website from top to bottom while keeping some of the kitsch from the old look. I led a team to re-design the site and built layouts from the resulting mock-ups. I was further tasked with creating the Beer Bible, a filterable, app-like experience customers could use to find the type of beer they’re looking for.

The Result

From analog to digital

Whistle Binkies’ complete beer selection was transferred to WordPress, which allowed me to implement filtering by color, style, country of origin, and ABV. Beer “cards” are shown to users with the relevant information, and the flip side of the card contains a BeerAdvocate profile link where they can find out even more if their interest is piqued.

The food menu was also imported into WordPress with an eye toward online ordering in the future. For now, menu prices, descriptions, and more are easy to update for employees with just a few clicks.

Employees can additionally edit the daily specials and featured beers on the home page. I created simple custom inputs that an editor can use to quickly and easily change content as needed.
